Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
